darth loadedThis morning I picked up the Tahe Greenland from Riverside Kayak Connection in Michigan. It was as awesome as I expected, most importantly I fit, despite expectations it was the larger cockpit (I think) and I had no problem at all sliding into the seat. After leaving the store I drove south a few miles and put in at Elizabeth Park on the Trenton Channel. I took a quick paddle south until I could claim to be in lake Erie and then returned and loaded the Volvo again. The kayak was excellent, it turned easily on edge, the skeg kept it straight in the breeze and I did not find the stability an issue at all. Most importantly my feet fit too.
I then drove north for 5 hours, it took longer than expected due to an accident on I75 bringing us to a halt for 45 minutes.
tent with a view Straits State Park MIThis evening I pulled into Straits State park, pitched the tent and then gently paddled out around the bridge and back again, now I can claim to have bagged three of the four lakes.
Not very heroic paddles today but tomorrow should be a lot more fun…

'nuff said!
Four great lakes
