It seems counter intuitive but now that the summer months are over I intend to invest time in getting fit for paddling. Last winter having met and joined the Inland Sea Kayakers I attended numerous pool sessions where we learned and practiced self rescue techniques including rolling. Since then the idea of growing my skills and learning many of the Greenland style rolls has become an obsession. My experience last winter has shown me that there is a level of flexibility, strength and endurance necessary to survive an hour of rolling practice and so I am intending to start a ten week program to ensure I am ready to maximize the benefit of this years pool sessions. A couple of years ago my father gave me a copy of Fit to Paddle, which contains a couple for different regimen, including a ten week at home program. If anyone has used any other programs and had good results I would be very interested to hear about them.
