Prior Lake Paddling

My wife and I live at the top of a hill over looking Prior Lake. We usually paddle at Spring Lake where we have a cabin. The last few weeks of Summer this year have been unusually warm. The warm weather has caused the water quality at Spring Lake to deteriorate. I have moved paddling activities and rolling classes to Prior Lake temporarily until the weather abates and the clarity returns to Spring Lake.

I usually launch from Sand Point Beach on the North side of Lower Prior Lake, there is ample parking and a gently shelving sand beach, there is also a DNR kayak ramp that can allow for easy access if the power kayak traffic is not too high.

The past two weeks have afforded some lovely paddling. Several local paddlers have joined me for a paddle amongst the island of Prior lake, usually just making it back to the beach in time for a magnificent sunset.
