Following the success of last years roll of the day series, this year I will be updating the video for each roll resource page using video content from the new Rolling with Sticks DVD.
This week I have started with the side scull which is a great way to get started with rolling.
While technically not a roll, having a good side scull teaches you many of the motions necessary to successfully roll, as well as providing you a great recovery technique if you do get knocked over. There is some debate about the name side scull as the paddler is on their back, however the kayak is on its side. It is possible to scull on your side, but in Greenland competitions the Side Scull is executed on ones back and so the name remains.
